If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Well, not always, but it's best to have a plan at the beginning of the week, or even at the beginning of the day. Create a list from your meal plan and stick to it at the grocery store. When you are first starting out and exploring the "where" and "what" to buy, give yourself time to get familiar with this new way of eating. Once you have your "go-to" ingredients, the shopping trips will become much quicker.
